Description
Congaree Swamp is near Columbia, South Carolina and it is the largest tract of old growth forest of hardwoods left in the United States. The park has a boardwalk that runs thru the swamp where you can get a glimpse of wild hogs or many variety of birds. Great place to go camping. The park lies within a flood plain and certain areas flood around 10 times a years. In 1983 it became an International Biosphere Reserve and in 2003 it became the 57th National Park.
